When it came to the final work for my art class in high school we were given free choice of topic and technique. I went for what I thought to be industrial design by the time and taught myself 3D modeling. Looking at my crude vision of a modular, digital school bench, my present self would of course do many - if not most - things differently, yet this first step into design was an important one. For the first time I realized, what it meant to let reality and imagination collide, creating new questions that lead to unexpected results. My teacher didn't like my work much - a classical oil painting would have pleased her more - but my spark for design sure was ignited.
